Friday Photo Swoon – Fan the Flame

1930s burlesque fan dancer photograph

Feeling a bit naughty? This provocative young lady knew how to keep 'em guessing with her use of lush ostrich feathers. The texture alone in this photograph is appealing. Satin shoes, downy feathers, silken chair duster, soft curls, and smooth skin all participate in such an elegant seduction. Even her eyes seem to maintain a poise while the slight smirk of her mouth suggests mischief.

Although I could not identify who this lovely lady was, the bobbed hair and fan would suggest that she is from the 1920s to 1930s. Large ostrich feather fans were popularized in that period.
