The Sunday Snag – Easter Basket Miracle!

bubblegum pink vintage 40s cotton dress with pockets

BEHOLD!!
The Easter basket miracle!!

This lovely pink dream arrived at my doorstep this week as my spring gift to myself. Isn't is darling?!! Raleigh Vintage, whose owners Andi and Isaac are too nice for words, is where I managed to snag this beauty. I think it had only just been listed in their Etsy shop and maybe had 6 views before I sprinted to the "Add to Cart" button!

This lightweight cotton day dress is from the late 1940s/early 1950s, has a beautiful little scoop neckline, tiny detailed edge accents and eyelets, and is in the cutest bubblegum pink. There are big side pockets and matching white and gold buttons all the way down the front. It is missing its original belt but still has its original shoulder pads (which I love!). I just need to find myself a period belt and maybe take in the bust a skosh, but otherwise this beauty is ready to go!

Saturday Shop Talk – "Make Those Eyes at Me"

Hair Accessory with vintage center on floral fascinator

Personality: The Shy Romantic
Places you'll find yourself: Willing him across the cafe to your table with just a flick of your eyelashes and a small, flirtatious smile

I created this little hair flower with fuchsia pink and purple anemone petals. In the center is a little cut-out vintage gold button and the back is covered in an upcycled, vintage men's silk tie and a small hair clip. The photo below is of another version available in my shop.

For the actual hairstyle pictured, I french braided all the way down rather loosely and wrapped the braid into a loose side bun, pinning it down with bobby pins.

Side note: I cut all my hair off this week!!! I had very long hair and they were able to take 4 ponytails worth for Locks of Love!! Crazy huh?! Now that my hair is very short, I'm going to start putting flowers like these in the front by my ear or side of my face.

Thursday Thrill – Easter Surprise

How many of you received Easter baskets when you were young? Or maybe you still do! I stopped getting these little treasure troves all wrapped in pastel when I was quite young. Actually, I think it would be really nice to have a little gift basket to share with someone and ring in the bells of spring. Here are a few things that I would love to find in what would apparently have to be a rather large Easter basket! :-)

There is no real rhyme or reason to this list. They are just a few little goodies that I wouldn't mind the Easter Bunny leaving at my doorstep. What do you all do for Easter or Spring?

pleated vintage dress with matching tie for waist in tank style
1950's Floral Dress from Fab Vintage
I really love the colors and mixed florals on this dress. Seems comfy to wear and could easily be for entertaining guests or just sharing a slice of pie with the hubs.

beaded colored felted egg decor for Easter holiday
Hand Felted Eggs by Katinytis
These beautifully felted eggs would be an all year round decor for me. So delicate and I personally love fiber art. Touchability (is that a word?) makes these that much more enticing.

aqua blue vintage tap shorts with lace detail from the 30s
1930's Tap Shorts from Stelma Designs
Spring knickers!! Need I say more?!

silver bow brooch with light colored polka dots
Antique Pastel Brooch from Beca Runs
A lovely pin to accent my slowly growing closet of vintage clothing. This particular one would be nice because the multi color pattern would make matching a breeze.

yellow peep chicks for easter decor
Paper Machè Chicks by Crave Cute
The closest thing to Peeps that I'll ever want. I'm not a fan of the iconic marshmallow treats but these little guys are too cute!

orange yellow tulip basket for door hanger
Spring Tulip Wreath by A Work of Heart SA
A bright and welcoming door wreath would be so nice to come home to! Tulips would be especially nice and I like the non-traditional basket style.

moss green felt hat with snakeskin bow accent
1950's Bow Hat from Ginger Root Vintage
A vintage hat. You know, I don't have one single hat. Not one. That needs to change, my friends.

white easter bunny frosted cookies
Sugar Cookies by Sugar Lane Bake Shop
Frosted cookies!!! This may be my favorite Easter tradition. Iced sugar cookies always make it feel like a holiday to me.

white and pink easter bunny headband for dogs
Easter Bunny Ears by I Lick You
This little guy needs to be in my house right now. I want a puppy folks!

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter and Spring!!

Treasury Tuesday – Thar She Blows!

The end of March is upon us and the last of the gusty March winds are blowing themselves into April. Most people still need to bundle up in warm clothes as spring has not quite sprung for most of the north.

This blustery treasury is the second that I've featured from The Photo Impression. They really do a lovely job in their composition and the collections often tell a story. I guess they know a thing or two about that being that they are indeed fine art photographers! Hiding amongst the breezy finds is my pair of little button earrings in an earthy gray brown color.

What is your favorite piece?

The Sunday Snag - Fab 40s

peachy pink vintage 40's blouse jacket with covered button front

Super thrilled with this snag guys!! Actually, I'm quite thrilled with the next couple of snags coming soon too! This gorgeous 1940's over blouse jacket has beautiful little cut outs that peek-a-boo from embroidered detailing. The tailoring is impecable and the little fabric covered buttons are placed in such a flattering position directly below the bust of a deep vee collar. I snagged this treasure from Anatomy Vintage, the owner of which is so kind and friendly!

The color looks peachy apricot in the shop photo but is actually more of a blush nude/pink. As soon as I got this in the mail (yesterday!), I immediately threw it on and ran out the door to snap a photo in the sunlight. When I say immediately, I mean I still have a towel on my head from getting out of the shower and white socks with tennis shoes hastily pulled on with my shirt and skirt combo. My neighbors think I'm nuts.

The photos below are from that quick shoot. Hence, there are only close up shots since my arm is only so long and you wouldn't want to see the ridiculousness of my full outfit!

Isn't it pretty?!!!! It is a light rayon and the sleeves are loose. There were moth holes and a small chemical stain, but I think I might shorten the sleeves just enough to get some fabric to patch the holes. As for the stain, it is primely placed in a position that can be covered with a brooch. Alterations and brooch hunt will now commence!

Saturday Shop Talk – Our Walk to Town

stamped brass portrait button from Victorian era made into jewelry cocktail ring

Personality: The Youthful and Spirited
Places you'll find yourself: Picking wildflowers and saving their seeds to scatter on your next trip into the village

This ring was created using an antique 20-part stamped brass button from near the Victorian picture button era (1870-1918). Many buttons from this time period featured scenes of people, flora, fauna, and even myths and nursery rhymes. This particular button pictures the profile of young girl in a straw hat.

I fell in love with this button because it reminded me of Anne of Green Gables, which is one of my favorite childhood books. You can just imagine this little girl skipping along a grassy path with basket in hand and her mother trying to keep the girl's dress from getting splashed with mud.

What images do you find yourself most drawn to? Flowers, portraits, etc.?

Treasury Tuesday – New Growth

Tomorrow is the official first day of spring and you can already start to see changes! The trees outside my house are starting to bud and we've had a multitude of early bulb flowers appearing.

This beautiful treasury is a tribute to that new growth and was curated by The Basic Elements. You can spot my vintage button bobby pins in the second row too! I really love the items in this group. I actually use crates like the one on the bottom row for my bathroom shelving and it is so cute!

The Sunday Snag - Don't Pinch Me!!

Happy St. Patty's Day!!! Hope you all are wearing green!

Here is my green for the holiday. This was a Christmas present from my sister and I love love love it! It is a lightweight dress from Ms. Tips and is early 1960's with an uber cute collar! Of course, the first time I wore it was out dancing and my own heel caught the hem and ripped it out. Lucky for me, the fabric itself was not torn, so I just hemmed it right back up again good as new! Whew! Talk about luck of the Irish!

Saturday Shop Talk – "By Any Other Name"

coral pink rose hair pin buttons
These hair pins were created using vintage buttons, two with stacked coral pink buttons and one with a fabric covered button. The rose design on the fabric button incorporates the coral and the pink, which I love as coral is one of my favorite colors to wear. What about you?? Not your favorite color in general, but what's your favorite color to wear?

Visit my shop to see all my newest creations.

For those of you that enjoy Saturday Shop Talk, I've created a new blog just for that! This new blog is called ChatterBlossom Shop Talk and will be solely for introducing you to the new creations from my shop! Come on by for a visit if you like! :-)

Thursday Thrill – Tea Garden

1960's Spring Flower Cloche from My Drawing Number One

The days are coming where late mornings will be perfect. Perfect, that is, for tea. Tea outside. Tea in the garden of Spring.

Though wafting hints of golden spiced tea and crumbly cookies remind us to hurry back to table. Comfortably seated, nibbling goodies and sipping tea, there is no better place to quietly watch for more blooms to wake and hear the local birds sound their daily news.
